In recent years, the European Biomass Ultima (BU) plant has positioned itself as the most innovative wood-biomass processing facility in the world. It incorporates a series of proprietary innovations and patents that are not available anywhere else.
Despite standing just weeks before its official opening, the team continues to introduce improvements, optimizations, and enhancements that increase the plant’s practical utility and, ultimately, its overall value.
One of the most recent innovations, developed only months ago, was the preparation for gas production. Together with its academic partner, the University of Maribor, the BU team identified a challenge that Slovenia, where the BU factory is located, shares with much of Europe: the need for strategic energy storage.
